ATTENTION ALL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY COMPANIES!

Your businesses and the jobs of your workers are being threatened by an organized effort to destroy merit based contracting. Everyone who makes a living in construction needs to get involved and fight back against the protectionist forces that are trying to preserve their Guild status. BuildingNYC has been formed to fight back and protect our ability to continue to work in an open and competitive industry. But we need all of Your Support!

What needs to be done:

(1) BNYC Website: Go to the Building NYC website review our organization’s goals. (http://buildingnyc.org/) BNYC is fighting for your right to run your business free from unfair regulations and anti-competitive legislation-against the Old Guard of the industry that wants to protect its privileges. If they get their way there will be less work for all of us and many of our people will lose their ability to take care of their families;

(2) Worker Safety: Too many workers have been hurt on the job and have even lost their lives because of lax oversight by the city-and poorly trained inspectors-not because of any negligence by the companies doing the bulk of the construction work in NYC. BNYC’s first priority-after fighting to keep our work and our jobs-will be to make all of the construction sites as safe as possible. We will be developing legislation and oversight reforms to make this happen.

(3) Training: Learn at our website about the new training program being developed for the benefit of all of your workers. BNYC is partnering with ABC the nation’s top training company to establish a state of the art safety driven training program that will enable workers to get the kind of training that will lead to higher pay and advancement to a better future. This training is paid for by our employers because it is in all of our interests to have workers with more skills. Our program will be better than any existing program and will make our workforce the most skilled in New York.

To maintain our well-deserved market share.
A right to work in an open and competitive market not controlled by the special interests.
Less government restrictions that limit building so there will be more work for all.
Safer job sites with fair and equitable regulations and oversight.
A productive relationship with all of our elected officials and decision makers, so that we are treated fairly for our contributions to the NYC construction industry and NYC economy.
